How to avoid heavy meals if you are pregnant

Although at Christmas, birthdays or family gatherings we often skip our diet and think that excesses are allowed, during pregnancy it is not so much the problem of calories but the discomfort that a copious meal can produce in the future mother.

In the first few months of pregnancy, if nausea is persistent, appetite is likely to be diminished, so, as appetizing as a large meal or dinner may be, the pregnant woman may resist bite. However, in other stages of pregnancy, the pregnant woman may feel seated to make an abundant meal, how to avoid temptation?

Coping with a heavy meal in pregnancy

In these cases the toasts or canapés, provided they are not with very fatty foods, they usually sit well, also the nuts, and the cold foods more than the hot ones, but obviously, the body is the one that commands, and it is not necessary to force it, So it is better to eat small amounts of food that you want, than to be guided by other reasons.

After the first trimester, when the nausea begins to disappear, eating again becomes something palatable. If this is the case, with the exception of basic bans during pregnancy, such as raw or undercooked foods, pâtés, unpasteurized cheeses and cured raw sausages, it is not necessary to take too many precautions.

However, after 6 months, when the belly begins to become prominent, eating again becomes a challenge. The third trimester is often linked to heartburn and heavy digestion, given the size of the fetus and pressure on all organs in the belly area. Constipation and anemia also occur frequently in this stage of pregnancy, so it may be useful to follow some tips to avoid these ills before a copious meal:
- When everything on the table is tremendously delicious, it is best to put small amounts of each dish on the plate, so you can try everything, to fill yourself with the first thing that seems appetizing.

- Try to lengthen the meal so that it is eaten with pause. Eating fast enables air to reach the stomach, which is not at all advisable, and can cause gas and flatulence.

- Introduce small snacks and chew thoroughly because it facilitates digestion. The saliva is the first to attack the food and facilitates the work to the gastric and intestinal juices.

- Include fruits and vegetables in the food, since its contribution of fiber will help to avoid constipation, in addition to lightening the digestion.

- Avoid salty snacks, since salt is an enemy, not only during pregnancy, because of its relation to the increase in blood pressure. Although it is not proven that diet determines the occurrence of preeclampsia, it should be remembered that a diet rich in salt may increase the risk of suffering from it, especially if there is a history of high blood pressure.

- Although it seems obvious, it should be remembered that alcohol should not be consumed, even a little, since the damages in the baby are more than proven.
